As I followed the recent string about SI vs. other kinds of seconds, I began
to wonder what would be the values of SI multiples of seconds.
Here are my calculations.
1 kilosecond = 16 minutes 40 seconds
~ 1/4 hour
1 megasecond = 11 days 13 hours 46 minutes 40 seconds
~ 11 1/2 days ~ 1/3 month
1 gigasecond = 11 574 days 1 hour 46 minutes 40 seconds
~ 31 2/3 years
1 terasecond = 11 574 074 days 1 hour 46 minutes 40 seconds
~ 31 689 years
Note that I have only used days, hours, and minutes because these have
definite definitions relative to the SI second; months and years do not.
