As we all know, there are still some shops in the UK that have not metricated their scales.  And the authorities, claiming to wait for the outcome of all court decisions have not prosecuted anyone lately.

Does anyone from the UK who posts here know what they have been doing?  Are they recertifying non-metric scales or scales that are not in accordance with the law?  If not, are they still allowing traders to use non-certified scales?

If a trader is using a non-certified scale and a customer claims to have been cheated, does the customer have any recourse especially if they choose to do business with traders whose scales are not certified.

The only way I see for the issue to be settled is for the authorities not to certify scales.  Other methods might be to require that any scale not in kilograms not be allowed to be recalibrated or repaired, unless converted first.

Scouts can be sent out to buy samples of weighed products and bring them back to the lab and have them weighed and if the amount they paid for is not the amount they got, then to file cheating charges against the trader.

Any idea as to what is happening?
