Sorry Harry and Bill and anyone else, I apologize. I am just so frustrated with the inches and fahrenheit that I get carried away.

I should probably ask myself/: "Do I want to be 'right' - or do I want to be happy?" ;)

Yes, I think you ARE missing the point.

I have been on this list for several years. So has Harry Wyeth. I'm familiar
with the style of his messages.

I took his first paragraph as implicit praise for REI. I'm sorry if you
missed that.

As for getting sick to your stomach, I'd say don't sweat the small stuff, to
which I'd add that it's all small stuff.

Believe me, Harry is strongly pro-SI. If that weren't so, he wouldn't be
posting messages here.

I am a backpacker and mountaineer and rockclimber and the only units I have problem with are feet. So even suggesting that REI should put something other than metric in their publications or anywhere else is making me sick to my stomach. If someone wants to convert it to feet be my guest.

Leadville is US highest incorporated city and it is at 10,430 feet. I
think this is just as easy to remember as it is to 3048 m. And it makes
more sense.

Maybe I am on the wrong list? I thought that by now at least few people
would write emails praising REI and saying that we should support them
and many others that might come. Instead I am defending my pro-metric
stance. Dissapointing :( But maybe I am missing the point here.
