Two ideas for consideration:
 
1. It might be a good idea if some of us pro-metric folks in the UK, who have apparently been involved in the grocery dispute, to somehow express condolences to the family of Mr. Thoburn and let the anti-metric group know about it.  You in the UK can probably figure out how to do it.  It would perhaps undercut their efforts, in the future, to demonize the pro-metric forces in the UK.
 
2.  On the interview with the Sec. of Commerce, good quote and a very perceptive comment re his double standard.  It might be a good idea here for the USMA to officially communicate to the Bush admin. and to the good secretary about this point.  One would think that if it has to do with making money for business, even those in Washington might get the idea.
