One thing I'd like to know is why, with the same picture in it, my message was only 8 kilobytes and Euric's was 213 kilobytes.

In neither case is the photograph actually embedded in the message. (It's linked from a web site.)

Odd, that.

Gar nichts. Es is in den Vereinigten Staaten, wohin die Zeichen und die Wegmesseren in Meilen sind. Es wrde schwer sein, die Einheiten zu bersetzen.

Translation:

Euric's question was What is wrong with this picture?

My answer is: Nothing at all. It is in the United States, in which the signs and odometers are in miles. It would be hard to translate the units.

Although all of us would rather everything here was SI, it would simply be confusing to provide a foreign visitor with units that didn't correspond to those on the dash of his/her rented car. Of course, it would be much better (and more respectful) if the sign showed both miles and kilometers.
