YES, maintaining STATUS QUO is one aspect. Realisation of Time *Metrication/Decimalisation* is the other side of the coin.
If and only IF, Arc-angle ONE degree is divided into 1/100th to be called 'Nautical Kilometre' instead of '1/60th as the Nautical Mile' this realisation id shown to be practical. The time interval shall be 36% of SI-second and length unit Metre New(m') to be 1/10^5th of the DEGREE. I have talked of this for almost TWO years on this list; and my published contributions in India since 1970's.
It certainly is TIME to re-think and realign for *bridging the Metric system & hence SI* -an area that had been left out DELIBRATELY or otherwise!
Sorry, NO way without changing the duration of time interval second (s) to *decimal second (sd)*.

This is no 'silly talk' actually. Metric time CAN be a reality without necessarily having to change the second after all (my... 'new' position! :-) ).

As I've provided PLENTY of *PROOF* here, it would STILL be significantly better despite single conversion factors that would be required for its "bringing in line" with the SI second (don't we all have to fiddle with these stupid 60-60-24 factors anyways?...)

Cheers,

Marcus
