Hooper, sir:
Since that is the case, I conclude that Brij's proposals would DESTROY SI and therefore I wonder >why he is communicating with us on a listserver dedicated to PROMOTING SI. His ideas are antithetical to the promotion of the simple, coherent and world-wide accepted International System of Units.

If my reply to your mail on Earth circumference is *for the search of truth*, you might realise: what I mean is for the unification of Le Systeme Internationale d'Unites. Perhaps I have no business to be on USMA list. I generally delete mail that does not interest me???

In previous messages, Brij has advocated changing the size of the second. Now (below) he is proposing changing the length of the meter. That changes two of the fundamental units of the SI metric system, two of the seven base units upon which ALL the others depend.

Such changes would change virtually every unit of the SI. Since that is the case, I conclude that Brij's proposals would DESTROY SI and therefore I wonder why he is communicating with us on a listserver dedicated to PROMOTING SI.

His ideas are antithetical to the promotion of the simple, coherent and world-wide accepted International System of Units. I've heard enough of them to understand how badly they would impact SI and I really don't care to hear any more about them.

(What Brij wrote was:
It would be far simpler of only the HOUR is *decimalised* and metricated to link the new 'time interval' with length unit, m' =1/10^5th of ONE degree.

If he means this new metre would related to the distance that one degree of longitude would have on the surface of the planet Earth, then it would be relatively meaningless on another planet. One of the beauties of SI is that is is NOT dependent on measurements of the irregular and always changing planet Earth.)
