You are justified in your pride in becoming familiar with Celsius by using it. Losing familiarity with Fahrenheit by not using it is not something to be proud of. It may be an understandable consequence but it is not an acheivement. It is just like language learning. I am proud of improving my foreign language skills by using them more. I would not be proud of forgetting English by using it less. I suspect that for you to be a good ambassador for metric in the US today, you will need to be bilingual in Celsius and Fahrenheit like many US pilots are. That might be better than professing ignorance of Fahrenheit. Congratulations on all the effort you are investing at home. Keep up the good work.
