Does anybody know a metric trip planner for North Americas? I mean these internet sites like mapquest or yahoo that give you driving directions, distance, time, maps etc. They are all in miles! It's extremely annoying for us Canadians...

Mapquest can be set to give distances in kilometres.

First go to "setting" (one of the choices up at the top of the page, directly under the Mapquest logo). That takes you to a page that allows you to choose miles or kilometres (unfortunately the default is miles) and a couple other things. After changing it to kilometres, be sure to click the "update settings" button at the bottom. THE CHANGES AREN'T ACTUALLY MADE UNTIL YOU DO THAT. (I had trouble with it at first because I didn't realize that I had to click that button to activate the changes had I made.)

There is also a button that allows you to tell it not to reset the changes after you log off (so it would presumably still be in kilometres the next time you needed to use it). I haven't checked out how well that works however.)

After changing to kilometres, click on "Directions" as usual to get directions and maps in kilometres.

PS I looked but didn't find any metric capability on Yahoo maps. I also use Maporama sometimes; I did not check that one for metric yet.
