That's very close to a "triple-and-add-zero" rule, which I use for
ounces all the time. For liquids 12 oz equals 360 ml, 20 oz equals 600
ml, etc, which is certainly close enough.  For solids 8 oz equals 240 g,
16 oz equals 480 g, etc, which a bit overestimates but then you can
knock off 5% like figuring a tip.

So I would think your triple-and-add-zero rule is close enough for cubic
feet.

Hello what is a good rule of thumb conversion between cubic ft and
liters?  Is 1 cubic ft = 28 l good enough or is it too far off.  I think
the exact conversion factor is 1 cubic ft = 28.316 l.  Thanks for your
help.
