It has been my experience that when I hear people describe lengths, if the length is below 2 or 3 cm, people will use millimeters and above that, they will use inches. It is a trend I have noticed on a personal basis with my friends and associates and I have also noticed in movies and TV. For liquid measures, I hear a whole mishmash of units. As for engine displacement, I hear liters for newer cars, cubic inches for older cars and cubic centimeters for motorcycles. What are other people’s experiences? |
