Note: 23 feet is an approximation of a more realistic 7 m.
 
 
 
After a delay caused by a stiff breeze, the cross and its huge bronze base, weighing some 28 tonnes and together almost eight metres (26 feet) high were together lifted to the cathedral's summit with a special crane, in light rain.
