Don't forget Euric's admonition not to participate. I couldn't agree with
him more.

Subject: [USMA:30584] poor use of imperial in the UK

Check this out. It is a kids forum. The use of imperial is very bad. Kind
of prooves people cling to imperial terms, but rarely get the amounts right.
If the kids are this way, do the adults do any better?

That question we pose here - what actually happens?

Many of us have admitted in the past that whatever we discuss here and
whatever our opinions that they are based on a real interest in imperial vs
metric.

Thus - a "normal" member of public probably doesn't bother or even want to
get involved.

On surfing the web to end an argument I was having with a friend (when do we
spell 'spelled' as 'spelled' and when is it spelt "spelt"?) I stumbled
across the uk-learning net where students can post questions informally and
formally about whatever they want. (Bryan - you may have more info about
this community)

I've reproduced the links below.
Be warned! There is no strong "victory" for either side, but bear in mind
that most of the posters opinions are not strongly opinionated about
imperial/metric (although there seems to be one that vehemently denies the
imperial system exists!!).

Enjoy!

[PLEASE NOTE: Be reasonable and do not add posts to this site. The site is
for students BEING students and talking like students. I implore that no-one
submit a post just because they might not see what they like or they wish to
"correct" something (like a mile being over 1000km long!). I haven't tried
it and won't. Without proof of being a UK student you might not be able to
anyway]
