Yes, it is a good article. If Irish road metrication should be postponed till early next year, I may be there! I am planning to go to Ireland for a week in late winter or early spring; I did that this year as well. I will see whether the Irish Times has something to say about it tomorrow. Theer was nothing in it today about this subject.

There was yesterday at least an ad on that page that said: 'See the 100 meter dash in 42 flat.' That was a classical case of water opposed to fire, as the '42 flat' referred to a so-called 42 inch flat screen TV from Panasonic.

At least the article is not anti-metric, but rather offers a balanced
view and makes a good point in saying that by switching all the speed
limits to metric, it gives the govt there a chance to review all speed
limits such as ridiculously high limits outside schools, so that the 60
mph limit outside a school would not become 100 km/h but hopefully
something like 40 to 60 km/h.
