Some states are conducting metric sign tests including speed limit signs.  A good place to look at what jurisdictions are doing what go to:

There are metric signs on the Highway at Louisville, I saw them as we went through the town on Saturday
They said  2km (1.2 miles) etc.

Hello  Phill thanks for that info.  Is there anywhere on the internet i can go and read the law allowing metric signs in the US?  It sure would be nice if the US wood go to metric speed and distance signs.
