Activism and Direct Action September 6 2004, 9:39 AM

re (Andy): "Is there such a thing as a metric activist?"

REPLY: Yes.

1. Lord Howe.
2. All members of the U.K. Metric Association.
3. Arguably, all members of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister currently working on a new draft Metrication Bill.
4. E.U. bureaucrats pressing the U.K. to 'complete the metrication process'.

An 'activist' is someone who is active.

'Direct action' usually means things like demonstrating or amending illegal metric signs

This is from the BWMA site.  Please take note of item #3.

Is there activity from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister that is actually working on a new draft Metrication Bill for the UK?   If there is and it was suppose to be a secret, well it isn't a secret anymore if a primary member of the BWMA knows of it.

Will someone from the UKMA like to comment or will we have to get our news from the BWMA?  Kind of sad that the opposition knows more then supporters.
