Pity they did not use any metric for anything else, they have things like a 2-mile marker, 215 feet, etc.

    Perhaps they ran they rounded it to the nearest whole unit that
    described the distance between two landmarks? I know here in San
    Francisco, we have the Bay-to-Breakers race which is a 12 km
    course, rather than the standard 10 km. In usual American style,
    the course description is a muddled mess of mixed units.
