Then the solution is to procure the metric materials from foreign sources 
like China, thus bypassing the domestic suppliers.  I'm sure China will be 
more then willing to supply the metric bricks the domestic market refuses to 
produce.

One might hope, but from the news that came out Friday it seems the powers 
that be can't see beyond profits to be made in the near term by cutting 
"huge unnecessary costs..."
