I had to help my son with his 6th grade math homework. The scenario
(they are learning decimal) was a garden plot where each garden was
allowed 100 m2. Based on some given criteria (ie. his dad wanted to plot
twice as many potatoes as corn) he had to use a grid to lay out the
garden and then state the size of each portion (ie. tomatoes, carrots)
in decimals. 

What a great lesson to teach the value of decimals and metric all at
the same time. It's nice to see some of the learning they do was in
metric that was not part of a specific lesson on SI.
