I own horses and was watching a horse program on a cable channel called RFDTV, which one of the last places you would think that metrication would be discussed.  Yet there was a program dealing with mules (!) and competitions for mules in cross-country jumping that explained that the time for completing the course was based on a average speed of 350-375 m/minute, and that "there is no need to covert to feet to find out how fast your mule is going...."

I think this is the same as the rules for 3-day-eventing, which is a horse activity involving extended cross-country courses and based on European roots and rules.  There is probably a website with these rules, if one is interested.
