I've noticed that instructions on consumer goods are usually in customary units only. For example, home appliances and furnishings that require installations will give drill sizes and hole patterns in inches. Frozen pizzas, cake mixes, etc. give cooking instructions in degrees Fahrenheit and cups with no metric equivalents. This is an area that needs progress. Perhaps writing some letters to get a few major manufacturers to include metric equivalents in their instructions might get the ball rolling. It would be nice to see the government mandate that instructions on consumer goods include metric values just like they require metric quantity declarations on prepackaged foods, but I doubt that's likely to happen any time soon.
