The long-held belief that labeling some products with both metric and
pre-metric units is costly came home to me today while I was shopping for
running apparel at a local sporting goods store. The washing instructions
for a shirt made in Taiwan simply stated, "WASH COLD (30C)." No Fahrenheit.
It struck me that the need for economy sent that shirt to a Texas store
without having spent the time and the resources to attach a special label to
it for the U.S. market.
