That rant is more than a few years old.  I came across it a year or two ago
on metricsucks.com.  It has been reproduced on a few different sites
(anti-metric of course).  It kind of makes me think it may be the stuff of
urban legend.

A Google search on Joan Pontius provides a large number of hits, including
her anti-metric rant at http://www.dsgb.orbix.co.uk/rankine.html.

I see no point in responding to her. Her (apparently closed) mind is
obviously made up. Of course, she anticipates any response by claiming that
the pro-metric faction (which would obviously include us) has a closed mind.
