The current definition of the kg is that it's mass is equal to that of the physical prototype. To define the kg as being 2.205 pound would be meaningless because the pound doesn't have an independent physical definition. Metric is best for lots of reasons aside from the fact of it being THE definitive system of measurement. Phil Hall
