Title: USGS Earthquake Intensity Maps now in SI only!
New shaking intensity maps on the USGS website are now in km only! The earthquake information page still contains both units (with SI as the primary), but when you click on the “Did you feel it?” link, the map that pops up has only km on it!

For those of you not familiar with them, the shaking intensity map displays a different color for an area, depending on what type of shaking was reported by people in the area.

Try it out for yourself at http://earthquake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/ . Pick out any sizeable event (this past week saw some shaking of sufficient magnitude to be felt in Arizona, Washington, and upstate NY/Maine/Quebec). Click on the event...then scroll down to the “Did you feel it?” link.

Way to go USGS. It is so nice to see US maps with km ONLY on them :)
