In what part of Canada do you live? In Toronto and Ottawa, where I have lived, I've never seen a 4 L container of milk. In fact, we buy, 4 L of milk in bags which are placed inside a holding container. You can buy cartons of milk sized in 2 L, 500 mL, 250 mL. In comparing the 2 L and 1 L carton to the cartons sold in the US (1/2 US gallon and 1 quart) those containers appear to have a similar footprint, but are taller to add the additional volume. Of course, since I've never lived in other parts of Canada, I've never seen a 4 L container, but they obviously do exist. Stephen Gallagher
