What do they mean by "pound?"  An avoirdupois pound?  A troy pound?  An 
apothecary pound?  No - they mean a pound-force.  Technically, they 
probably should have written "lbf" instead of lb.  The conversion is
   1 lbf = 44.482 216 152 260 5 N
