Hello i would like
to make a comment about having highway signs dual labled. In my opinion it would
cause cunfusion. People would never think in kilometers if the signs still have
miles on them. I have said this before and i wil say it again the only way in
my opinion is if the US ever were to change their speed and distance signs
to metric is to do it all at once in the shortest time frame possible. At the
same time have all new motor vehicles be they small motor cycles to the biggest
highway rig have kilometer speedometers after a certain date. The change from
miles to kilometers should be preceded with a mass education program using all
forms of media. Canada used the decal system on a lot of signs when we
changed in 1977. I believe there are still some decals in use today almost 28
years after they were installed. I feel that if the States used this
aproach to going metric on their roads it would go as smootyly as it did in
Canada. When the republic of ireland changed their road signs on the 20, of Jan.
there were as far as i know no dual signs. The change in Ireland has gone
smoothly as well as far as i know.
