Not sure if this is a "one off" or part of a trend, but I was pleased to note that the Discovery Channel offering titled "Supervolcanoes" had the scientists of the USGS using SI (and *only* SI!)  in talking about the Yellowstone caldera (even if they did mispronounce "kilometer" as "kih-LAH-muh-terr" a la "Star Trek"). Everyday citizens used customary units in the show, but that's to be expected (I believe) since that accurately mimics everyday usage here in the States.

I do hope this is a sign of the direction the Discovery Channel is taking when it comes to using SI at least for the narration of scientific matters in future shows. Anyone else have data points for the Discovery Channel?
