You do realise that imperial was re-introduced into the national curriculum in the mid-90's?
Imperial conversion factors (for selected units deemed to be still in common use) have been introduced into the NC and year 9 are required to know how to do the conversions (can be tested in SATs). Metric is still the primary system taught in schools and that will remain the case. Schools have never been required to teach both metric and imperial and you'll be hard pressed to find a teacher nowadays who is prepared to do it. They've enough trouble getting good results with just the one system.
