AutoCAD has a rounding feature for the output shown on the drawings, you are
able to select the rounding quantity. I can tell you that AUTOCAD keeps
track of significant figures as well as any calculator. I use it in everyday
calculations and it can track across many orders of magnitude accurately. I
suggest your friend does the unthinkable and reads the manual to find out
how to display what they want to display.

Novel thought I realize but with AutoCAD absolutely necessary.

AutoCad may have a feature built in that considers the number of significant
figures. Actually, if we take 10 ft as being precise within 1 ft, then 3.0 m
(i.e., 300 cm) would be appropriate. You might ask your friend to try typing
in 10.0 ft and see if that changes the output.
