What
would be really slick is if they put "1/2 mile - 800 m" for small
distances. Rather than just a translation between imperial and
metric, which most people would ignore, you give them the smaller sized unit
which some might find convenient. Even if they
treat 800 m as "about 800 yards" it still drives home the
point.
BTW,
any more metric signs on the Maine Turnpike lately?
