Last time I was in the US I noted that draft beer was served in various plastic 'glasses' in this place I went to. I noted that one of the sizes was 20oz. Ironically I found myself drinking "UK pints" of beer!

So when you ask for a pint of something you actually get 500ml?
Hmmm, sounds familiar!
;-)

I was referring to alcohol (whisky, wine, etc, but not beer) that comes in bottles from either a government store or the supermarket. There is no 473 mL pint size, only 500 mL. Someone asking the clerk for a pint bottle of whisky would get a 500 mL bottle. At a bar, people don't ask for pints, they ask for a glass or a beer by its name and you get whatever size glass they have. Everyone is different. In many cases, bars don't sell draft, they sell bottles, so you get the standard 355 mL.
