Sorry - I didn't mean to divert the direction away from weights and
measures, but it is still valid to recognise that TSOs don't just go
around looking at weighing machines. They have a whole spectrum of jobs.
There's no need to apologise. I was concerned about the comparison you made
and the context in which you placed it rather than being off topic.
No one is suggesting how TSOs should prioritise their work. We merely focus
on the issue that is of interest to us.
It's all very well for BWMA and some politicians to say that local
authorities should lay off those who don't comply with the law requiring
metric trading because they have better things to do. We could equally say
local authorities have got better things to do than needlessly replacing
public signs just because they happen to have metres on them, or because
some anti-metric hot-head has defaced them.
We can all play the "get a life" card if we want to.
