I graduated from high school in 1964 and my first exposure to the
metric
system was in high school science classes. That was in New Jersey. Prior to
my high school years we lived in Ohio, where I was born. In the eighth grade
we had to learn all the "standard" units of measurement --- from grains and
on up!
