If the government should decide to fund the rebuilding of New Orleans then there is no reason they shouldn't fund the metrication of the US which would be more beneficial to the citizens. I'm looking for opinions as to what would be a better allocation of money and resources.

Aside from the astounding insensitivity of your post, the fact is that money is not and never has been the barrier to metrication in this country.

Thinking a few billion dollars of money taken from the tax payer can metricate the USA is sheer nonsense.
