While shopping at a Canadian WalMart store, I was able
to verify today that fabrics (including those made in
the US) are labelled with their width in centimetres
and the total length is listed in metres. The fabric
is priced and sold in metres.

Similarly, balls of wool are packaged in grams, with
hard metric sizes.
