Just for the hell of it, why not spray-paint the distance in rods on the sign? (To illustrate the absurdity by [briefly] being absurd.) -- Jason

Subject: [USMA:35122] The increasingly bizzare tale of a certain signpost.

I will open by saying that, I'm not making any of this up......honest!!

Just today, I had walked down that road and happened to glance at the signpost I mentioned earlier with 300 yards written on it to replace a 0.5km sign.

In the last 3 to 4 weeks or so, (I think) the 300 yards measurement has been obliterated (not very convincingly) with a piece of tape reading "500 yards"!

Two pieces of tape either side of this sign cover the old measurement and they read 500 yards....a helluva lot more accurate, but still around 50 yards out.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera to hand to take a picture but, (if anyone's remotely interested) I might try to get one in the near future. The label obliterating the old distance can be clearly seen.

Incidentally, before anyone says anything, the label is NOT blocking out 0.5km. That signpost was blue. This one is green.

Regards,

Steve.
