Senate Sets 2009 Digital TV Dateline

The Senate moved the digital TV transition one step closer to reality on Thursday, setting a firm date for television broadcasters to switch to all-digital transmissions.

It seems that the US government has no problem issuing conversion mandates with hard deadlines, when it businesses and government stand to profit at the expense of consumers.
