It appears that the use of units of measure on the
broadcast versions of the BBC depends on the editor concerned and the target
audience.

Subject: [USMA:35513] BBC News UK web
site
Well, I took to heart the comments about how the
BBC World Service is metric and the domestic BBC is Imperial and looked at the
BBC News web site, which offers an international version and a UK
version.
I had always viewed the international version by
default, but this time I selected the UK version and then selected England
from the navigation bar as the focus for news. Should I be surprised to
discover that the news stories I saw were all 100% metric (and none of the
ones I read specifically oriented towards science or technology)? Is it that
the web site (even the UK version) has different editorial guidelines from
domestic radio and TV from the BBC?
