Hi Pat et al: FYI
A few years ago I suggested to the
superintendent of schools here in Maryland (MCPS) that the SI and the NIST SI
diagram be taught and used in science courses and classes. He has
told me on a couple of occasions since that he is committed to it. It
has been implemented. The MCPS has about 140 000 students in grades
K-12.
Also, The Dictionary Project has included some
basic SI, albeit rudimentary in this year's edition. I've made suggestions
to improve on this start. Last year more than one million copies of the
dictionary were given to third grade students, a large number by Rotary
clubs. This year, our Rotary club gave 852 copies to third grade students
in nine public and private schools in the immediate area.
Regards, Stan Doore (Not to be confused
with the other Stan)
