Apologies for the belated response to this post, by the way. "Ok - to cut the semantics - you won't get a half or pint from a bottle but you will get one from a multidispenser tap (those one's that do all the softdrinks and water)"
OK, I'm being INCREDIBLY pedantic here but, does the actual pump itself work in imperial measures? I would dispute that. "No they don't, Stephen. Not in a UK pub (although I've seen said glass in a European (mainland) pub." Yes they do. Just because you say so doesn't make it true. I've seen quite a few examples of beer glasses with 568ml stamped on them. "If you want to to - I guess it doesn't harm anyone to perceive things wrongly." Which other way COULD you perceive the statement I was referring to? Ahem: "In a pub you can ask for a pint, or half pint of coke/lemonade etc and you'll "get away with it". Get away with what? Just a little addition to all this. To all the "keep the British pint" brigade. I guarantee that if they replaced the pint with a larger 600ml or 700ml glass of beer for around the same money, all this "save the pint" nonsense will vanish in a puff of smoke. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stephen Humphreys" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "U.S. Metric Association" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 25, 2006 9:14 AM Subject: [USMA:35838] Re: History of imperial since 1824 > > > > >What I clearly said was that you wouldn't receive a pint or a half from a > >bottle or a draught pump. > > Ok - to cut the semantics - you won't get a half or pint from a bottle but > you will get one from a multidispenser tap (those one's that do all the > softdrinks and water) > > >Not always necessarily so.
