To put this another way, the inverse of the statements above, such as: 'keeping the old inch/ounce/pound/gallon measures makes our businesses more profitable' or 'keeping the old inch/ounce/pound/gallon measures makes our calculations simpler' etc. are simply obvious nonsense.
