Try asking them what a "calorie" is or what the difference is between
"calorie", "Calorie", "kcal"
I have an exercise bike that displays "CAL" amongst other things. I've no
idea what it means and the unhelpful ignorant "Customer Service" department
for the maker ignored by enquiry into the matter.
If the display showed "J" or "KJ" (uppercase by virtue if the limitations of
the display device) it would at least have been clear to me.
