I should mention that I'm not Australian it's just that I haven't heard any of my friends who are ever do their height that way :).
Another odd thing i've noticed is that fuel economy in cars is still measured in miles to the gallon even in fully metricated countries as opposed to L/100km. I heard it on a radio add in Canada and also whenever I see car commercials from New Zealand, Australia or other metric countries. A few Japanese car commercials do give fuel economy in liters per 100km but I don't know if they all do.
