Mostly complaints come from AGC (Association of General Contractors). Of course
they have money and political influence. I think lack of supplies is a small
part of it, the bigger issue is that we are the only part of a much larger
English based Construction industry, and now the only major player in the
highway industry that is still metric. It's hard to stand alone.

Not sure what is left in Albany but I doubt there is much metric signage.
Perhaps on I-81 near the border.

Ah the NYSDOT. I remember those guys well :) I was born and raised mostly in
and around Albany and New York City.

Are the local and county builders objections because they don't want to
learn metric or because of a lack of metric building supplies or what?

I really hope they don't switch back, it'll just make it that much harder
when they finally decide to go metric on road signage and whatnot.

If I remember right from my trips to Toronto the highway leading into Canada
had metric markings on it for a few km before the border. In fact I seem to
recall that even parts of Albany had metric signage like around the airport
and places.
