At least they are using yards which is more
analogous to metres rather than feet. They use feet on road signs,
not yards, in the US. It's a way to help educate the public that
really doesn't understand the refinements and difference between yards and
metres.

Yards? Meters? Meters? Yards? In some ways I pity MSNBC but it's
still annoying :).
I apologize for the stories being kind of grim but
it brings the point across rather well.
