They've started using grams and mL almost exclusively when referring to weight because they have trouble understanding the concept of an ounce or fluid ounce.
I was further surprised when my brother mentioned us going 110km/h on the road and then 65 miles. It wasn't an exact but at least it's a start :).
When I asked them why they had suddenly started using the metric equivalents they told me they do it because it's easier for them to understand. Nice to know I've had a good effect on the next generation.

I'm curious where you got the metric only and dual tape measures. I haven't seen a dual tape measure for sale in any Home Depot or other hardware store in I don't know how long :). Just the other day I was in Lowe's and asked for one and the clerk just gave me a blank stare and asked me what metric was. After I explained to her that the 500m swimming event was metric (she swims in competition) she promptly replied with "We don't carry those" :).
My dad used to have a dual unit measure but he threw it out as soon as he found one with inches and feet exclusively. He's a contractor and as he put it "I'll never buy metric equipment or have to use it so why should I have a measure with it on it "
