Title: Metrication matters 36
Pat,

When I tried to access both of these, I received a message at the bottom of the screen saying "Invalid Syntax Error,Microsoft Internet Explorer" wqhich once clicked upon gave a page saying "This page cannot be displayed".

Is this just my computer or has everyone else had the same problem?

Subject: [USMA:36735] Metrication matters 36

Dear All,

This month's newsletter, 'Metrication matters 36' is now available at:
http:www.metricationmatters.com/newsletter/ if you scroll down to the bottom of the page. You will also find all back issues of 'Metrication matters' in the same place.

You might also be interested in a summary of the arguments for the use of centimetres or millimetres at http:metricationmatters.com/articles/

This is a long article so I have broken it into smaller parts.

Following this introductory page, there is a one-page summary of the main arguments for the use of centimetres or millimetres.

After this, I share the main lines of argument that I have collected; this is the long part but it, too, is broken into shorter sections -- you may not be interested in all of them.

Finally, there is a three page conclusion.

If you are pressed for time, I suggest that you read the first two pages and the last three pages and only skim read the bits in the middle that interest you.

To make these arguments even more approachable, I have arranged the various discussion points as if they were a discussion between three people: John the engineer from the UK, Sarah the teacher-librarian from the USA (both fictitious), and me.

John the engineer and Sarah the teacher-librarian are actually composite characters who are made up from the many people who wrote to me expressing their support for, or opposition to, either the centimetre or the millimetre. Many of these shared their ideas through the United States Metric Association discussion list and I would like to thank the many people who contributed.

Cheers,
