I prepare food in metric, and I would like to see the data easier to use for
metric cooks. I think that there should be a mode where all queries and
results are in metric, not counting such units as "1 leg" and the IU. Energy
should be returned in kilojoules, not calories, which have been obsolete for
over 100 years. Since the metric system is the preferred system in the US, it
should be the default.

For instance, picking a navel orange, the measure.pl page should look like
this:
100 1 gram, including peel
100 1 gram, edible portion
1 1 fruit (80 mm dia, 250 mm circ)
1 1 NLEA serving
The first unit should be a gram, with a default of 100, rather than a
hectogram, with a default of 1. This will make it easier to enter a weight
directly from a scale.

As to diameter, if I measured an orange, I would use my tailor tape and
measure the circumference.

For acerola juice, the page should look like this:
100 1 gram
100 1 milliliter

I also think that the milliliter should be considered a household measure. In
several decades, I have not seen a measuring cup which does not have
milliliter marks.

I also suggest that the downloadable files be in Unicode, not ASCII. This will
allow you both to enter the proper symbol for the microgram and to enter
names of foods with accents.
